I hadn’t really considered going trout fishing until your press conference today. I love to fish. I genuinely do. I’ve been so busy working from home, homeschooling my children, cooking for them, stressing grocery options, supporting small businesses and serving the public that it didn’t dawn on me to just go fishing.
You see, folks in our community have lost their jobs. They can’t find food. They are losing sleep because they can’t afford rent. They are trying to decide if their business will be able to re-open. We are terrified that this virus could kill one of our loved ones too.
It is downright insulting to suggest we just go fishing. It shows just how out of touch you are with real working West Virginians. Do you have so much money that you don’t even know what it’s like to worry about surviving the next month or two? Oh, wait, I know that answer.

So, Governor, I promise you if you see me on a river trout fishing it will be because we were hungry.
