“Life is going to be different for us for the next 12-18 months. Life, how it was 6 months ago? We’re not going back to that anytime soon.
But life doesn’t have to look like it does today.
We can’t do THIS for 12 - 18 months. Right?
I am hoping, and this is the GOOD scenario...
And if we play our cards right, we can do this.
We get widespread testing across America. Figure out what the state of infection is. In communities that we don’t have very high infection rates, you kinda let off the breaks a little bit, let people go back to work, kids go back to school. Maybe not mass gatherings, maybe we don’t have the 100,000 person march — we don’t do THAT. But if bars and restaurants have events, maybe some of that stuff can slowly come back.
It won’t be everywhere. Places with high infection rates, you wait a little longer for those rates to go down.
During that time, we’re dumping a ton of resources to get our hospitals and healthcare systems ready.
Hospitals are going to get SLAMMED. Doctors and nurses WILL get sick and the ICU beds will be taken over.
During the spring and summer months, the rates will start getting low, but in some communities you will see spikes. When you see a spike, you close down schools and events very quickly until those numbers drop. Communicate, “Hey guys, this is going to be a 2 week close.” It won’t be an 18 month close, but short term closes.
THEN, over the summer we prepare for the Fall. And that means in preparing for the Fall, the WHOLE country has got to get focused. Because the fall is going to come, and the infections are going to come back. And WE could actually be ahead of it.
Right now, we are playing catch up. Because again, 2 months is a VERY long time to waste.”
