There is no selling Biden the candidate without mentioning Trump. Biden sucks. The argument “for” him in a general election is that he buys us a little time – I work on the policy side of social services and I have a closeup view on what’s coming down the pipe for the poor and disabled. It’s horrifying. That alone should scare any decent person enough to stand in line in a pandemic to vote for Biden if that’s what it comes to.
The argument as a leftist is that if elected Biden would automatically be a caretaker president and an extraordinarily weak party leader, almost certainly would not stand for re-election, and would overall be poorly positioned to neutralize an ascendant left-wing movement within or adjacent to the party. The day after Biden’s inauguration would be the most opportune moment in any living person’s memory to begin enacting a radical left takeover of the democrats.
