January 1, 2020 : 53-year-old James David Lamb ushers in the new year by using a trash can to smash through the glass of a Redmond, OR. motel office to beat and strangle the 70-year-old woman staffing it. Lamb made statements to authorities that he did it because the woman was Indian and he wanted to “get rid of people like her.”

January 1, 2020: A transgender woman in Columbus, OH. is beaten, kicked in the face, and choked by her own mother and her mother’s boyfriend while both called her “a faggot” and told her she was “a boy with mascara on.”

January 1, 2020: 25-year-old Dustin Parker - a transgender man and father of four - is shot to death while working his shift as a taxi driver in McAlester, OK.

January 3, 2020: 18-year-old Samuel Gulick walks up to the Newark, DE Planned Parenthood clinic, spray paints “DEUS VULT” on it, and then firebombs the clinic before running to his father’s car and speeding away.  Gulick, an active member of the white supremacist “groyper” online subculture, frequently posted Christian extremist, anti-gay, and  anti-refugee content on social media, along with posts asking “when we will start shooting” the “genocidal demons” who provide access to abortions.

January 3, 2020: 30-year-old Joshua Ebow is arrested and faces hate crimes charges stemming from four separate incidents where Elbow is alleged to have targeted gay men in Los Angeles shopping malls and restaurants and stabbed them.

January 3, 2020: Two gay men and some friends are eating at a Greensboro, NC diner when five men come in, yell homobphobic slurs at the group, and then attack them, throwing tables and chairs at them.  Three of the attackers drag one of the gay men to the floor and start kicking and stomping him.  When people intervene, one of the attackers pulls a knife and threatens to kill everyone in the diner.  When police arrive, they let three of the five attackers go and arrest two on minor infractions.

January 4, 2020: The Jerusalem District Attorney’s Office filed an indictment against a far-right Jewish activist, charging him with attempting to carry out a hate attack in an Arab Israeli town. Dor Oved took a bus from his native town of Mevasseret Zion northwest of Jerusalem to the neighboring village of Abu Ghosh late on the night of January 4. A police car patrolling the area spotted Oved, who raised their suspicions as he tried to get rid of the knife in his possession. He was arrested at the scene. January 5, 2020: A 13-year-old boy, was punched in the stomach on a London bus by an attacker who shouted “you stupid Jews think you own the world.” The incident took place late Sunday morning on a bus heading toward the Stamford Hill neighborhood of north London, which has a large haredi Orthodox Jewish population. January 5, 2020: A mob of armed & masked fascists from the ABVP, the student wing of the fascist militia RSS attacked Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi, India. The campus was smashed up and 39 students and lecturers were injured in the attack, including the president of the student union, Aishe Ghosh. JNU has been a center of a left wing intellectual movement for decades and recent protests against the Islamophobic citizenship amendment act, the occupation of Kashmir as well as fee hikes. The far right BJP president Amit Shah has repeatedly slandered feminists and communists at JNU as “anti national” and “urban Naxals.” The police stepped back and failed to intervene and students have described the attacks as state orchestrated violence. January 5, 2020 : A gay couple from France were savagely attacked and hospitalized while on holiday in Torremolinos, Spain. They were attacked by four youths, who beat them up violently while shouting homophobic slurs and insults. One said :, “You faggots get out, we are going to throw you all out of here.”

January 6, 2020 : A man was insulted with antisemitic remarks and punched in the face in the metro, in Berlin.

January 7, 2020 : A 35-year-old woman, who recently immigrated to Bellevue, WA. from India, is confronted by two men, who call her a terrorist, tell her to “go back home,” and then assault and rob her, injuring her.

January 10, 2020: . A group of seven men and women accost drag performer Camile Leon outside Loneon queer venue The Glory, yelling homophobic slurs and punching and hitting them. January 11, 2020 : A 20-year-old lesbian is walking to meet friends in Sunderland, UK when two men run up behind her, punch her in the head, and knock her to the ground, smashing her face into the pavement.

January 12, 2020: The body of Ja’Quarius Taylor, a black, gay 17-year-old boy, is found in a swamp near Varnado, LA.  Taylor had been shot to death and his body may have been tied up.  Taylor’s family believe he was targeted because of his sexual orientation.

January 13, 2020 : A Syrian family living in Dodewaard, the Netherlands, are sitting in their living room after dinner, when someone throws a molotov cocktail at their house. Luckily the family manages to douse the fire and no one is hurt.

January 15, 2020 : Three members of the nazi terrorist group The Base are arrested by the FBI after their detailed plot to murder a “high-ranking antifa couple” in Georgia, along with a fellow Base member who is “too stupid” to keep the plot to himself, is uncovered.

January 16, 2020 : Three members of right-wing terrorist group the Base who were arrested by the FBI in Maryland and Delaware this week had discussed opening fire from different positions at the upcoming pro-gun rally in Richmond, Va., in the hopes of causing chaos, law-enforcement officials said. They are also accused of possesion of a machine gun and over 1000 rounds of ammunition, and harboring a fugitive Canadian neonazi.

January 18, 2020: A nazi starts shouting racist abuse at a man in Friedrichshain, Berlin, and gives a Hitler salute. When a passer-by tries to intervene the Nazi pulls a knife, threatens him with it and slashes his bike tire as the passer-by tries to get away. Police manage to arrest the nazi.

January 18, 2020: Women’s rights activist and artist Isabel Cabanillas de la Torre was shot to death in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. “The crime against Isabel represents an attack on activism, which for months has been harassed and assaulted by those who try to silence the legitimate right of women to demonstrate, to demand a life free of violence,” the National Institute of Women and the Chihuahuan Institute of Women said in a statement.

January 19, 2020 : A German journalist covering a nazi demonstration in Athens is attacked by participants of the event. Despite there being many police officers around, they only intervene in the beating after five minutes, leaving the journalist bloody and bruised.

January 19, 2020: 39-year-old Melissa Lovins, upon discovering the driver of her MIddletown, OH. driver is Muslim, berates him with a series of Islamophobic and xenophobic slurs.  "I’m an American and this is what I pay for all the time!  Do you not realize that?“ she said. "You’re not from here, and I’ll f**k you up!”  She then assaults the driver.

January 20, 2020: A gay couple leaving a party in Oaxaca, Mexico are attacked by their taxi driver, who berates them with homophobic abuse and then summons a mob of local residents and other taxi drivers, who beat the couple and strip them.

January 20, 2020: An 11-year-old Iraqi refugee girl and her little brother are confronted by four teenagers in Sebnitz, Germany, who shout racist abuse at them, then pull out a knife and chase them.

January 21, 2020: After an antifascist demonstration in Essen-Steele, Germany, a boy was approached by an older man who asked him about his political stance. After the boy answered that he was an antifascist the man punched him in the face, saying that was was lucky to be so young, otherwise it wouldn’t have ended with just a punch. January 24, 2020: A transgender woman is waiting for a subway at Harlem’s 155th street station when a couple approaches and demands to know if she is a man before spitting on her, slapping her, and slapping her phone to the ground.

January 25, 2020: Philip Sexton, 54, has pleaded guilty to four charges of assault after his “unprovoked and nasty” public attack of a 22-year-old gay man, his boyfriend, and his mother as the families were celebrating the 22-year-old’s birthday in Leeds, U.K. According to Sarah Liversidge, the mother, they were standing, talking, and smoking outside the restaurant before Sexton walked up, pushed Liversidge out of the way, and punched one of the gay men.

In a surveillance video of the attack, Sexton punched the young man in the face outside of Gino D’Acampo, an Italian restaurant. He continued to attack the boyfriend and the mother when a waitress intervened. The waitress confronted Sexton to calm him down, but he then punched her in the face too. The waitress kicked back at Sexton in anger. As she began walking back into the restaurant, Sexton came up from behind and pulled her hair back in an attempt to drag her to the ground. However, Sexton was stopped by a group of passers-by who intervened to stop further violence.

January 26, 2020: Two black-clad men throw molotov cocktails at  left-wing youth center Klex in Greifswald, Germany, but failed to start a fire before speeding away. Luckily noone was hurt. January 28, 2020: A Palestinian school in Einabus, Palestine is firebombed and destroyed.  The arsonists leave graffiti behind attributing the attack to a nearby Israeli settlement.

January 28, 2020: A black Mormon missionary is assaulted in Payson, Utah, by a group of six men. The man, who identified himself to police as a “black Panamanian,” was with his missionary companion to teach a family in the area. “As he and his companion walked toward the house of the family they were going to teach, they encountered roughly six individuals. The group repeatedly called the missionary a racial slur “and told him to get out of their ‘hood’ and go back to where he came from,” police wrote in the report. One man then took the victim’s cellphone and threw it into the road, according to police. “The victim said that when he walked over to retrieve his phone, the suspects followed him and continued yelling racial slurs and swearing at him. The victim said that one of the suspects also said he was going to slit his mother’s throat. He said that they were also mocking his religion because he was clearly identifiable as a missionary for his church by calling him a ‘church boy’ and telling him to leave their neighborhood,” the affidavit states. The suspects did not at any point target the victim’s companion, who is Caucasian,” the affidavit states. January 30, 2020: A teenaged counter-protestor shouts abuse at a group of people protesting India’s new Islamophobic “Citizenship Amendment Act,” then draws a pistol and shoots at the protest, badly injuring one person.  The teenager’s social media accounts indicate he is a member of the far-right Hindu nationalist Bajrang Dal.

January 30, 2020: A man was left with serious head injuries after a random stranger at a Liverpool petrol station punched and stamped on him in a suspected homophobic hate crime. The victim, a man in his 40s, had stopped to buy alcohol at the Shell Garage on Crosby Road North, in Liverpool, shortly after midnight on January 30. He was punched from behind by a random attacker who hurled homophobic abuse at him and stamped on his hand when he fell to the floor. Onlookers ran to help the victim, who was taken home in a taxi and later went to hospital to have his injuries treated. January 31, 2020: A man at a train station in Newbridge, Ireland is stabbed in what police are describing as a “homophobic attack.”  The man was treated for his injuries at a nearby hospital.

January 31, 2020: Three men attack a Jewish woman in Nybro, Sweden, ripping off her Star of David pendant, mocking her religion, and attempting to rob her.  The woman is able to fight off her attackers.  Police are treating the incident as a hate crime.

January 31, 2020: Arsonists set fire to the washroom of a building housing refugees in Bad Aibling, Germany, but the fire is discovered before anyone is injured or the building sustains serious damage.

January 31, 2020: A refugee in Salzwedel, Germany is confronted by six men, who racially abuse him and beat him, breaking his nose and suffering various other injuries.

January 31, 2020: Two women in Berlin-Mitte racially insulted a Chinese woman, spat on her, pulled her to the ground by her hair and then hit and kicked her. February 1, 2020:  Two days after a teenager shot a protester in the Indian capital, another firing has been reported at an all-women sit-in site in the city against the controversial new citizenship law. Witnesses told Al Jazeera the suspect shouted “Jai Shri Ram” (Hail Lord Ram, a Hindu deity) as he fired “two to three shots” in the Muslim-dominated area where hundreds of women have been protesting since mid-December. February 1, 2020: Irish author Gavin McCrea was walking in Dartry Park in Rathmines, Dublin, at when he was approached by a group of teenage boys. They started using homophobic insults and threw stones at him. The boys ran away when the gay writer flagged down cars in an effort to get rid of them. But that was not the end of his ordeal. Fifteen minutes later, while still walking, the same group of boys attacked him from behind. He was punched and kicked and had his cheekbone and nose broken during the attack.

February 2, 2020: Calling her a “diseased bitch,” a man in a New York City subway station attacks a woman wearing a face mask, hitting her repeatedly in the face.

February 2, 2020: An 18-year old German man attacked a 15-year old boy from Chad, after racially insulting him during a game of football in Wittenberge, Germany. The victim and a friend then managed to restrain the attacker and beat him up. February 2, 2020: A group of men walked into a gay bar in Dallas, Texas, and start harassing people. “A group of barely legal straights barged into our bar last night acting belligerent and when a few of the regulars stood up for the staff they beat us and fled,” one of the people present wrote. “I took the first punch. February 3, 2020: A Chinese student is approached by three men in Birmingham, UK who abuse him with racial taunts before attacking him, dislocating his jaw and leaving him with other injuries.

February 6, 2020: 23-year-old musician and well-known LGBTQ+ activist Lindokuhle “Lindo” Cele is shopping for food near is Umlazi, South Africa home, when a man steps out of a  cab, runs up to Cele, and stabs him repeatedly, killing Cele.  The 30-year-old attacker had previously told people that he hated Cele because Cele was gay.

February 7, 2020: At least 10 people were killed and dozens wounded in the Zhambyl region of Kazakhstan after a brawl between Dungans (also known as Hui, a local Muslim ethnic minority of Chinese origin) and Kazakh police started circulating online, which was followed by a rampage by groups of Kazakh men who started torching buildings and cars in a cluster of five villages in the Zhambyl region, about 130km (81 miles) west of Almaty city. February 8, 2020: A 29-year-old man was shot and killed in North Ogden by a group of neo-nazis that had earlier assaulted his brother, according to police. Ryan Joseph Dash, 32, of Ogden, and Brian Christopher Jenson, 28, of Brigham City, were booked into the Weber County Jail in connection to the shooting, North Ogden police said in a statement Sunday. While being interviewed by detectives, Dash eventually told them he shot Wood with a handgun and shotgun, the affidavit states. “Dash explained that he had assaulted (Wood’s) brother previously, and that in response, (Wood) threatened him. They arranged to meet at a location in North Ogden. Dash stated that (Wood) was alone, and that (Wood) had his hands in his pocket. He admitted that (Wood) did not brandish a weapon,” according to police. February 8, 2020: An east Asian man in London who was violently assaulted and robbed by two teenagers shouting “coronavirus” at him has warned that the spread of the disease has created “a climate of racism” in the UK. The man says he was travelling home in the late afternoon to west London when he was attacked on his local high street in full view of dozens of passersby. The Thai man, who works in the City, was left stunned and bleeding with a broken nose as one assailant stole his headphones and the other filmed the attack on his phone. February 9, 2020: Meera Solanki, 29, was out for her birthday at the Ana Rocha Bar and Gallery in Birmingham, UK when a group of men called her friend Mandy Huang, 28, a ‘dirty Chink’ and shouted ‘take your fucking coronavirus and take it back home’. She stepped in to help, but was knocked to the ground and hit the pavement. Meera suffered from concussion and had to spend several hours in hospital being treated for her injuries.

February 10, 2020: A 65-year-old Dutch man of Chinese descent was kicked off his bicycle in Amsterdam by two young men on a scooter. One of the culprits filmed the incident and uploaded it to his Snapchat story. He later downplayed criticism saying “don’t you worry guys, it was a Chinese man” and only turned himself in to police after becoming the target of widespread Internet vigilantism. February 11, 2020: Ebenezer Okang was in his own home in Accra, Ghana when a group of 10 armed men later storm the house where they shout at the  that he is gay and has been having affairs with young men in the community. They proceeded to beat Okang with clubs, machetes, stones and sticks, “He had cuts on his forehead, elbow, wrist and leg after he was attacked with sticks, bottles and machetes,” said eyewitness Kingsley Kwei, who made a report to police in Accra about the incident. He continued: “Mr Okang could have lost his life if not for the intervention of a pastor of a local church in the community who quickly organised some elderly men in the community to stop the fuming youth. February 11, 2020: A Chinese couple, 28 years old and 25 years old, were attacked in Torino, Italy, by a group of young Italians who accused them of being carriers of the coronavirus. The two, who work in a supermarket as sushi counter clerks, were surprised as they were going to get their car from the garage to go home. The man was hit with a bottle on the eyebrow. His girlfriend was hit with kicks and punches, and then hit on the back with a bottle in the back while running away. February 12, 2020: A bullet hole is discovered in the window of the Kiez döner restaurant in Halle-Saale, which was also targeted last year during the October 9th Synagogue shooting, in which a customer of the restaurant was shot to death by a fascist, was shot at again.  An employee heard the shot while working, but the actual bullet hole in the window was only found two weeks later. February 21, 2020: A transgender high school student in Alpine, TX is attacked by a fellow classmate. The victim said that even with video evidence, the student who threw the punches hasn’t faced any consequences.

He said the attack came out of nowhere and said the attacker first cussed at him, then turned violent, shoving and punching the victim several times in the face while two friends watched and laughed. “And he said it’s because he didn’t like me and he didn’t like who I was, that I just pissed him off,” he said.

February 21, 2020: Police have issued a murder charge warrant for an ex-marine who stabbed a gay barista to death, despite releasing him from custody last week after he claimed he acted in self-defence.

The victim, Kenneth Paterimos, 23, was involved in an argument with 30-year-old Thomas Tansey inside Richard’s Bar, Chicago. Tansey was escorted outside by security but waited outside. As Paterimos left the bar, Tansey yelled homophobic slurs at him before stabbing him eight times with a boxcutter.

According to a police report, he was stabbed once in his left ear, twice in his right arm, three times in the back of the head, once in the chest and once in the collarbone. The 23-year-old was taken to a nearby hospital, but was later pronounced dead.

The suspect was taken into police custody that night, but on Monday, February 24, he was released without charges after claiming the attack was in self-defence. Now, despite having already been arrested and released, a no-bail arrest warrant on murder charges was issued for 30-year-old Thomas Hugh Tansey in connection with the fatal stabbing of Paterimos.

February 27, 2020: A video showing the shocking moment a Leeds, UK schoolboy was brutally attacked and narrowly avoided falling into traffic on a busy main road has emerged on social media.

February 29, 2020: Joseph Stanislav suffered lacerations to his face after two men barged into his house in Sydney, Australia demanding money. As he reached for his phone to show them his bank statements, they began furiously cutting his face with a meat cleaver. “I felt the cold blade go straight into my forehead, my nose and my eyes,” Stanislav said. March 13, 2020:  An Afghan migrant was stabbed over coronavirus on the bank of a lake in the Turkish province of Konya on March 13. March 14, 2020: A 15-year-old boy was battered by a gang of hooded teens outside a McDonald’s in Liverpool in what law enforcement are treating as a homophobic hate crime. At the fast-food restaurant in Liverpool, England, the teens thronged the street where the victim and his pals were standing. March 14, 2020: Am-Shalem Singson, 28, is brutally beaten in a racist attack in the Israeli city of Tiberias. The man, who came to Israel from Manipur, India, in 2017, is taunted by two Israeli men who thought he was Chinese. The men, who have not been identified, called him “Chinese” and yelled “Corona! Corona,” a reference to the coronavirus pandemic that began in China’s Hubei province. “I told both of the attackers that I was not even Chinese, but rather a Jew from the Bnei Menashe community, not that there is any justification for attacking a Chinese guy or anybody else, but they were totally crazed and kicked me hard while yelling, ‘Corona! Corona!’” Singson is now hospitalized at the Poriya hospital in Tiberias with “severe injuries to his chest and lungs.” He is listed in stable condition.

March 16, 2020: An Asian woman was assaulted in Manhattan by a stranger who blamed her for the spread of COVID-19. March 22, 2020: A man has been arrested in Salt Lake City for sexually assaulting a lesbian woman. The lesbian woman told police that Adam QuinnAtwood was her friend’s husband, and that she visited the couple on the evening of Sunday, March 22, in Salt Lake City. March 26, 2020: Arua Nasan and his cousin were on their way to pick akub, a wild plant popular in Palestinian dishes, at the Ein Samia spring, which is frequented by both settlers and Palestinians in the region. “We were on the main road when we saw three settlers on donkeys heading our way,” he said. “At first we didn’t even see they were settlers. They were 16-17 years old, practically children, and when they came close to us they asked what we were doing here and said we’re not allowed to come here.” At this stage, one of the youths phoned someone, he says. Within minutes two cars showed up from the direction of the settlement of Kochav Hashahar. April 4-6, 2020: Hindu fascists attacked a group of Muslims in Bengaluru, India while they were distributing relief material amid the Covid-19 lockdown in Bengaluru, India. April 5, 2020: Three Palestinians employed as street cleaners by the Jerusalem Municipality were attacked with a knife and tear gas in the northern Jerusalem neighborhood of Ramat Eshkol. The three employees, Majd Fasfoos, Amir Dibs and Ezz el-Din Mohammed Ali, are residents of the Shoafat refugee camp in the city and are assigned to a maintenance crew that works in Ramat Eshkol. May 12, 2020: 29-year-old Joseph Miner and his 40-year-old friend and neighbor Daniel Jou are arrested by the FBI after purchasing illegally-defaced “ghost guns” from undercover agents in Queens, NY.  Miner, who had expressed his hatred of “women jews niggers” online, posted online statements of aspiring to commit a shooting spree and “forming a well-train incel hit squad,” as well as posting photos of the entrance to the Queens Jewish Community Centre, told agents he was acquiring the weapons for “boogaloo” - racist extremist code for “race war.”

May 15, 2020: McKinsley LaKeith Lincoln, an openly-gay black man living in Alexandra, LA., is found shot to death.  Lincoln had been the target of frequent harassment an abuse because of his sexual orientation and his family firmly believe his murder to be hate-motivated.

May 16, 2020: 22-year-old Des Moines, Iowa resident DarQuan Jones is walking to his girlfriend’s home when three men attack him, yelling racist slurs at him as they break his wrist, break multiple bones in his face, choke him, and cut his face open so badly he needed 10 stiches to close the wound.  At one point in the attack, Jones heard a gun cock and then two women screaming, causing the three men to flee, yeling at Jones that he needs “"need to get out of our area, we’re going to get all of you out here” as they fled.

May 17, 2020: 58-year-old Victor Scala, is arrested in Patchogue, NY for assaulting a 35-year-old Latino man while yelling racist abuse and making derogatory comments about undocumented migrants.  Scala’s victim was left with multiple injuries to his chest and face in the attack.

May 17, 2020: An Asian man is parking his car in Richmond, BC when another man pulls up beside in a blue BMW.  The BMW driver begins yelling racial slurs at the other man, who rolled up his windows and locked his doors as the BMW driver got out of his vehicle and began trying to smash in the side window.  The Asian man fled into a local business only to be pursued and attacked by the BMW driver.

May 20, 2020: 20-year-old self-described “incel” Armando Hernandez Jr. arrives at a popular shopping and entertainment district in Glendale, AZ. armed with an assault rifle.  Hernandez then begins shooting, targeting women and couples.  He shoots and injuries three people but tells authorities later his goal was to kill at least ten people.

June 10-13, 2020: 44-year-old Anthony J. Pelfrey goes on spree of random, unprovoked attacks against racialized people in Sonoma County, CA - assaulting and pepper spraying a Latino man in a food bank parking lot, pepper spraying a South Asian grocery store clerk and chasing him into the back of his store, and pepper spraying an Asian couple out hiking.  After his arrest, Pelfrey explained to the police that he “got a bad vibe” from his victims.  Pelfrey, who previously served a seven-year prison term for a machete attack that injured two people and is also charged with assault after punching a store employee on April 24th,  is charged with hate crimes and other offences.

June 11, 2020: USAF sergeant Steven Carrillo, a self-described libertarian whose social media accounts demonstrate an affiliation with the “Boogaloo” white supremacist accelerationist movement, is charged after ambushing two Oakland police officers. Carrillo alleged threw pipe bombs at them and shot at them, killing one and seriously injuring the other, before a neighbour intervened and wrestled Carrillo to the ground.  He was also charged with attempted to murder three other police officers and a firefighter and is the prime suspect in the May 29th shooting death of another police officer.

June 11, 2020: 65-year-old Scott Gudmundsen, calls police to notify them of “two antifa” in his neighbourhood before hanging up, dressing up in “tactical gear,” grabbing an assault rifle and two Glock pistols, and holding two roofing repair salesmen at gunpoint.  The two, which were in the area assessing roofs after a recent hailstorm, were college students working there summer job.  One of the two is a black college athlete.  Police have charged Gundmundsen with felony menacing and false imprisonment and have started that they are pursuing additional charges as they have evidence Gundemundsen’s actions were “racially-motivated.”

June 24, 2020: 18-year-old Althea Bernstein is waiting at a stop light in Madison, WI. when four men approach her car.  One screams "nigger!” at Bernstein while the other men douse her with lighter fluid from a spray bottle and then throw a lighter at her.  Bernstein suffered 2nd and 3rd-degree burns to her neck and face and will require plastic surgery.

June 30, 2020: On a visit to see his mother, 28-year-old Phillip Mbuji Johansen is lured into the woods by two  brothers, 23 and 25 years old and both white supremacists with swastika tattoos and ties to the far-right.  The two beat and torture Johansen to death, choking him on the ground by placing a knee on his neck, smashing his skull in with a wooden beam, and stabbing him through the neck and in multiple other areas.
